Today we made book covers, we could choose from a list of titles or make our own. After we finished, we put our covers on a slide so the rest of the literacy group could see it.
My book was called The Evil Goat.

Today I did Duolingo Japanese, my goal was to reach unit 6. I didn’t manage to get there, but I did get very close.
This week I have written a fake Email about a change in school hours that was also fake, here is a link to what I wrote.
FEEDBACK
“Really good! I liked how you addressed the issue immediately. If I was the MP I would definitely vote against the school hours in the parliament.” is what Vinny said about it.
Today I visited the science fair, There were lots of different experiments but my two favourites were one where there were paperclips attached to strings and the clips were being pulled upwards by some magnets but weren’t actually touching them because the strings held the down. My other favourite was a tube of LEDs and when you held both ends the LEDs would turn on, it works by turning your body into part of the circuit so when you touch both ends the circuit is completed and they turn on.
My passion project today is chess, my goals are to beat a good player and to win a game against a bot in around 20 moves, I am going to achieve them by paying attention to my opponents moves and try to figure out the best move.
I am hoping to improve my chess skills because of this.
I am using the school values of
Resilience – I did not stop when it got hard.
Integrity – I did it without teacher supervision.
Success – I felt that I did it on my own.
Empathy – I worked with others to achieve the goal.
The second task that I have done is fiction writing, we had to write a fictional story about something or someone lost so I wrote one about a person who fell down a “well” and couldn’t get out.
One night the mayor of Peanut Town was walking back to his house after a long day of collecting taxes when suddenly, he tripped and fell down a well! The well was so deep that when he yelled for help it wouldn’t even go halfway up, he had to wait until someone lowered the bucket to get some water but the well wasn’t being used anymore so that would take a very long time. The mayor sat in the well for hours trying to think of a way out but it suddenly started to rain, this gave the mayor an idea: if it rained enough, the well would fill up and he could float up to the top and escape. After an entire day of raining the mayor was able to swim to the top but when he got out he realized that he wasn’t in the well, it was the toilet silo and it wasn’t raining water.
This week we are making things to do with Matariki, this is an infographic I made about the seven stars of Matariki, it has their names and what they’re connected to.
This term we are making a giant periodic table and everybody has to make at least 1 tile. The tiles need to be normal tiles with pictures that relate to the element, the element I was given was gallium, here is my tile:
All of the objects are there because they are some of the things that gallium is used in and the background is the colour of gallium.
This term for action stations, I have been playing chess. I have practised online and played against other students.
I have enjoyed it because I learnt how to protect my pieces against different strategies. I lost the first two games against other students and I moved into tenth in the chess ladder.
This week, I wrote a biography about Dmitri Mendeleev, here is what I wrote.
